9 Motivational Life Moments from Made In Heaven Series Captured in a Glimpse

Made in Heaven, the web series which won several hearts with it’s powerful commentary on power, status, gender and health has witnessed many eyeballs rolling. It’s ironical that the writers of the series are unmarried women who have been repeatedly showcasing an excellent form of storytelling with flawed marriages as the main subject line.

Unlike several web shows being made today, Made in Heaven directly addresses the existing issues of societal hypocrisy which don’t fit into the mainstream narrative nowadays.

Here are my favourite key takeaway moments from the series:

1. Self Identity over Ambitions

The protagonist Tara was just an office secretary who got married in a rich South Delhi family. She happily leaves her “gutter” life to gel in the world of cheese and wine tastings. But over time, she soon realises that the constant struggle of blending in a wealthy household had made her lose her identity and the world she had dreamt of, no longer made her happy. Towards the end, she steps out of the failed marriage (with loads of jewellery of course) to live life in her own terms.

Even at the workplace, it’s imperative for individuals to never lose their self-identity while chasing ambition. #SelfWorth

2. Lots to Judge? Not Really

When Pooja (Mehendi girl) denied speaking about her sexual assault incident, Karan lashes out on her. However, Tara supported her without judgement as she was open to understanding the situation. In an unfair world, financial stability means a lot. At times, more than justice. And somewhere down the line, it reminded Tara of her own journey of where and what she was today.

3. It’s Never Too Late

Marriage is a beautiful institution. One of the episodes celebrates being courageous. All it took was a moment of bravery to walk off the marriage when Priyanka refused to pay dowry to the in-laws, proudly proclaiming that she is not labelled for sale.

This rule applies in every sphere of life. Ensuring that your voice is counted and maintaining a positive attitude at work helps maintain a transparent work culture. #Courage

4. Fear or Freedom?

Ultimately what matters the most? The fear of spending your life in a small town with a dissolved marriage or glorifying the stinct of gaining a passport to freedom and success by flying to America? The episode clearly narrates the existence of real-life incidents wherein flying to America is considered as a blueprint of an achievement. It’s a reflection of how when equal opportunities are denied to women, they resort to exceptional measures.

Today, with gender neutral and friendly policies at work, organizations are ensuring equality and diversity to brand themselves well. #Equality

5. Family Like Employees:

When Tara and Karan realise that one of their oldest employee’s daughters is getting married and he’s planning to borrow a loan for the same, they instantly volunteer to sponsor and plan her wedding. It’s ironic that one of the smallest marriages turns out to be the happiest one throughout the episodes where Tara rejoices and recollects her childhood bond with her sister and makes her want to visit her.

When making friends at work becomes a real possibility, work seems to be a lot more fun and a happy place to be in. #HappyWorkplace

6. To Dad, With Love:

While Karan’s mother- his first abuser knew of his sexual preference and identity since the beginning, it was his father who extended support and courage to him. He spoke up on Karan’s behalf when the media surrounded their home for a statement.

Remember the times when you were struggling between the decision to quit your existing job with good pay and settle for something risky yet worth exploring, when nothing seemed to be moving in the right direction and unexpectedly, your parents displayed faith in your life choice? At times, just a moment of reassurance and trust can do wonders. #LifeChoices

7. Business Needs Brains, Not a Sophisticated Outlook

Jauhari, the silent partner who holds 10% stake in the company advises Adil to pay attention to his company’s falling stocks. Speaking good English does not make one a good businessman. This clearly states that one should not judge a book by its cover. Silent partner had gone violent, quite literally!

That colleague who silently walks in the office, delivers his/her best performance each day and bids goodbye with a smiling face might seem boring to you. But in reality, he/she is a brat with a wicked sense of humour. Sounds familiar right? #OfficeScenes

8. Make Love, Not War

The webs series celebrates homosexuality. Karan is a gay whose life was full of struggles, identity crisis, acceptance issues not just from family, but society as well. However, it’s liberating to witness his true love with Nawab which connects with the show’s sensitive handling of Article 377.

Inclusion of diverse work culture and fostering a sense of ownership and acceptance by organizations has been a priority in the talent management strategy. #WorkplaceHarmony

9. All that Glitter Is Not Gold

While for Jaspreet, a girl from Dwarka, the struggle was to fit into a work environment that’s far from her understanding, for Adil and Fayza, it’s the zeal to find mental peace and stability. They are both financially settled but lonely in life.

Every individual goes through a struggle. The high performing employee you witness at work might be facing real-time struggle at home. The employee, always smiling and spreading positivity at work might be suffering from depression. It takes a lot of courage to speak up and hence, many organizations are setting up high engagement zones to ensure work-life integration and extending importance to the mental health of individuals. #MentalHealthMatters
